The sliding keyboard provides a familiar interface and allows for quick and efficient input of information, and the slide-to-hide form factor eliminates bulkiness for a sleek and stylish design. It measures just 0.7 inches thin and weighs a svelte 4.2 ounces.

The 2.4-inch color LCD automatically orients itself depending on how you hold the phone. It displays 65,000 colors and has a 320 x 240-pixel resolution.
Verizon SMT5800 Professional Reviews:
- PCmag has reviewed the Verizon SMT5800 and gave out “The bottom line: Verizon’s latest Windows Mobile smartphone combines HTC’s dual-keyboard slider design with a powerful CPU, but call quality is subpar. The Pros: Small and lightweight, given its dual keyboards. Comfortable QWERTY keyboard. Very bright screen. Fast CPU. The Cons: Below-average reception. Needs more RAM. Cramped numeric keypad. Useless speakerphone. “
- MobileTechReview has reviewed the Verizon SMT5800 and gave out “The Verizon Wireless SMT5800 is a solid smartphone with good voice quality, EVDO and design that’s both cool and useful. Slim phone fans might be better suited to the Motorola Q9m, but those who prefer something less wide than the broad Q9m should consider the SMT5800. The SMT has a good keyboard, fast performance by WinMo standards and other than the non-locking slider, feels well-designed and built. It lacks popular extras like a GPS and WiFi, but EVDO is a good substitute for WiFi. We wish it had a bit more memory but overall had no problems with stability due to low memory as long as we rebooted the phone at least once a week. “
- Laptopmag has reviewed the Verizon SMT5800 and gave out “For those who want to go the Windows Mobile route, the SMT5800 will do the trick, even if it’s a little too light on features. The Pantech duo taps into AT&T’s music and video services, offers an instant-messaging application, and costs the same amount, but its QWERTY keyboard and voice quality aren’t as good as the SMT5800. It’s a tough call, but we give HTC’s smart phone slider a slight edge over the Pantech. “
- CNET has reviewed the Verizon SMT5800 and gave out ” The good: The Verizon Wireless SMT5800 features a compact design that squeezes in a full QWERTY keyboard. The Windows Mobile 6 smartphone also offers EV-DO; Bluetooth; a 2-megapixel camera; and push e-mail capabilities. The bad: The SMT5800’s navigation controls and dialpad are a bit cramped. Performance can get sluggish at times, and there’s no support for Verizon’s V Cast services or Windows Live integration. The bottom line:The Verizon Wireless SMT5800 is a sleek and powerful Windows Mobile smartphone for mobile professionals who want to mange their e-mail on the go. “
