Sanyo Katana DLX Collection By digitalBoy:

Press Release:Sanyo has announced the new Katana DLX, complementing the recently released Katana II and sharing a similar look and feel. The Katana DLX features upgrades not seen in the Katana II though, positioning it higher in the market and allowing it to compete more favorably with other mid-range devices.

While the look is similar, the Sanyo Katana DLX is thicker and heavier than its brethren. The trade-off to this is the presence of a microSD memory card slot for memory expansion up to 4GB and a 1.3MP camera, which is a significant improvement over the VGA unit seen in the Katana II. High-speed EV-DO data is also present on the Katana DLX, meaning compatibility with Sprint’s Power Vision services such as the Sprint Music Store, Sprint TV, and Sprint Navigation when it appears on the network in the coming weeks.

Sanyo Katana DLX Reviews:

Infosync Reviewed Sanyo Katana DLX and gave out “However, none of the more advanced features stand out. The QVGA screen doesn’t pop like screens on recent Nokia N-Series devices. Streaming video was disappointingly halted by poor network reception, and the Sprint music store, though great in a pinch, is a let-down as a dedicated music player. The design seems dated already. What’s most confusing is that this phone represents the current high-end of Sprint’s lineup.”

CNET Reviewed Sanyo Katana DLX and gave out “The good:The Sanyo Katana DLX has an attractive and slender flip-phone design, plus an impressive multimedia feature set with good sound quality. The bad: The Sanyo Katana DLX has skinny side buttons, and the speakerphone quality was so-so. We also would’ve liked external music player controls. The bottom line: The Sanyo Katana DLX is the best Sanyo cell phone to date, with a fashionable design, plenty of features, and good performance. ”

MobileTechReview Reviewed Sanyo Katana DLX and gave out “Pro: Better aesthetics than the original Katana with pleasing curves and color choices. Strong signal strength and fast data speed by EV-DO standards on feature phones. Support for $.99 per song music store with a Power Vision plan. Comes with Sprint TV and On-Demand. A2DP and AVRCP support. Good camera quality by 1.3MP camera phone standards. Good battery life.Con: Keyboard backlight is dim. Limited numbers of speed dial entries (up to 8) and voice tags (up to 30). No external music controls.”

Sanyo Katana DLX Features:
* Sprint TV with more than 50 channels of live television and on-demand video and audio
* Sprint Music Store, powered by Groove Mobile, which allows users to browse and wirelessly download full-length songs directly to their phone from a selection of more than 1.6 million songs
* An optional GPS service, Sprint Navigation lets users get spoken and visual turn-by-turn directions with full-color moving maps, or locate loved ones from the phone or the web
* Convenient features like Safety Checks enable parents to receive automatic notification (via email or text message) at pre-scheduled times
* With Wireless Backup enabled, the Katana DLX automatically stores a backup of Contacts to a secure location on the Sprint web site
