June 18, 2007.Sprint is introducing the Mogul by HTC, the first CDMA device with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional Edition. The Mogul by HTC operates on CDMA EV-DO network, and the company says CDMA EV-DO Rev.

The Mogul by HTC offers the same design as the HTC Apache with slide-out QWERTY keyboard, large touch screen and five-way navigation button. It also delivers several enhancements including a longer battery life with approximately 20 percent more than its predecessor; more internal memory with a total of 256 MB on board; and a 512 MB external memory card shipping with the device with cards up to 2 GB being supported,
Users who like to snap pictures with their mobile devices will also benefit of a built-in digital camera with higher resolution (2 megapixels), flash, auto-focus and camcorder capabilities.
HTC Mogul Reviews:
MobileBurn Reviewed HTC Mogul and gave out “While it will only support the original EV-DO Rev 0 data specification initially, a free software update that will be available in the future will give the Mogul access to full EV-DO Rev A data speeds. The Mogul supports Sprint’s Power Vision services, including the Sprint Music Store and its over the air music downloads. On top of that, the Mogul supports WiFi wireless networks and Bluetooth 2.0 wireless connections with devices like headsets, including A2DP compatible stereo headphones.”
MobileTechReview Reviewed HTC Mogul and gave out “A very strong offering from Sprint, and a worthy, if not overdue, successor to the PPC-6700. The Mogul is manageable in size, powerful in terms of processing performance and storage memory and it has fast EVDO for pleasingly fast data performance. WiFi will keep you connected when not in an EVDO coverage area , and Bluetooth 2.0 means you can use your favorite Bluetooth headset and car kit with the phone.”
LaptopMag Reviewed HTC Mogul and gave out “As the first smart phone to support EV-DO Rev. A, the HTC Mogul’s biggest selling point is its data speed. Yes, you can use Wi-Fi to surf the Web and download e-mail when you’re in a hotspot, but Sprint’s network will enable fast downloads (450 to 800 Kbps) and uploads (300 to 400 Kbps) in more than 9,600 cities. Even without Rev. A the Mogul was faster than its predecessor… The Mogul satisfies as a media-playback device, but it’s not yet complete…”
Infosync Reviewed HTC Mogul and gave out “The phone lacks GPS, which is a disappointment, though we can’t think of any HTC QWERTY slider that features a GPS sensor.Overall, the phone handled Windows Mobile 6 better than the T-Mobile Wing, though performance was still lagging, especially when open applications slowed things to a halt. Not too disappointed, mind you, because the Mogul handles messaging as well as the best smartphones around, and business users won’t be disappointed by the PIM functions or the tethered modem support, especially after Sprint’s EV-DO rev. ”
MobileBurn Reviewed HTC Mogul and gave out “Audio quality was very good in general on calls, and the speakerphone also worked decently. Outbound speakerphone quality was actually great, it was just that the inbound sound was somewhat harsh.Like all Windows Mobile devices, the HTC Mogul has a first class contacts system. It can store most any piece of data that Microsoft’s desktop version of Outlook can, including notes. While the HTC Mogul has a 2 megapixel camera and music/video support, it is not really focused on such tasks. But with that said, it does cover the basics well enough. The camera takes reasonable photos, but without auto-focus the Mogul will likely give few people reason to leave their dedicated point and shoot cameras at home.”
Gadgetnutz Reviewed HTC Mogul and gave out “The camera it self is nice, taking good quality photos of friends, family, and foliage. The video on it was great and helped me a lot when my camera ran out on a trip. Although the camera itself works well it takes a bit too long to load up. The touch screen works very well and the two free games that cam with it(Bubble Breaker and Solitaire) worked extremely well. When you slide they keyboard out the screen turns so you have a proper view but I found this to be very slow and annoying at times. The scrool wheel is PERFECT.”
