The Toshiba Gigabeat U is the perfect workout-worthy MP3 player for those who find the Creative Zen V Plus too cutesy and the iPod Nano too restrictive. Its sound quality, rugged construction, and well-rounded features make the Gigabeat U a great value.

The U Series is much thicker than a nano, but still small at 3 by 1.4 by 0.5 inches and 1.5 ounces. With such a sexy physical design, this player’s ho-hum screen graphics are a big disappointment.

Toshiba gigabeat U Series Fans Collection
The beat goes on with Toshiba’s Gigabeat U-series portable media player. The silver device–which offers 2 GB of internal flash memory–is built for audio and photo playback, with support for MP3, WMA, and WAV audio formats and JPEG still formats. All told, the Gigabeat stores up to 20 hours of audio, enough for most road trips or gym workouts.
