The overall image look from the 1030 still works just fine for general snapshots, and is extremely printable in most cases (if a little bit artificial looking in a few), but more serious shooters will wish for more color rendering adjustments to tone the 1030 down.

The E-3 uses Olympus’s Supersonic Wave Drive to shake dust-free every time the camera is powered up.
More positively, the Olympus E-3’s substantial magnesium alloy build means that it’ll withstand a good few knocks in the heat of the action and allows for the inclusion of a tilt and swivel 2.5in LCD screen with continuous Live View, as also found on Panasonic’s L10.
With the exception of its somewhat awkward design and interface, the Olympus E-3 stands up quite well to competitors such as the Sony Alpha DSLR-A700 and Nikon D300.
With ISO settings going all the way up to 3200, the E-3 showed very little noise until about ISO 1600.
