The Nikon Coolpix S200 suffers from a bad case of style over substance. Its ultraslim, attractive metal body looks great sliding into your pocket. When you slide it out of your pocket and start shooting, though, its image-quality issues and slow low-light performance severely tarnish the pretty camera’s shine.

Cnet reviewed the Nikon Coolpix S200 and gave out”The good: Super-slim design; face-detecting autofocus a nice touch. The bad: Disappointing lens; noisy, soft pictures. The bottom line: The Nikon Coolpix S200 digital camera looks pretty and will fit almost anywhere, but it just doesn’t take very good photos. ”

Cnet Reviewed the Nikon Coolpix L11 and gave out “The good: Nice photos; decent performance for a budget camera; face detection. The bad: Few controls; slow flash recycle time. The bottom line: The Nikon Coolpix L11 is a decent budget camera, if you can overlook its scant manual controls. ”

The D40x is not a replacement for the D40′ and ‘it’s the differences that make the difference’ were the two key points at the low-key launch of Nikon’s latest DSLR – the D40x.

Whatdigitalcamera Review the Nikon D40x and gave out”It ultimately seems that the D40x is trying to be ‘forced’ into a gap in the market that doesn’t currently exist. While it is by no means a bad camera I’d still say that if you want a straightforward entry-level DSLR save yourself a few quid and get a D40. On the other hand, if you want a 10mp sensor, save a bit more and go for the D80 – the overall improvements justify the additional cost.”

The 10-megapixel Coolpix has a range of manual and automatic modes and controls along with the flexibility of a hot shoe and conversion lenses.

digitalcamerainfo Reviewed the Nikon Coolpix P5000 and gave out”the P5000 is stocked with picture effects and has no RAW file format. It has a trendy face recognition system, but it hardly functions and the auto focus system is quite slow. The P5000 can record movies, but the optical zoom is locked in this mode and the audio is cut off before the movie clip actually ends..”

The S200 impresses straight out of the box, it has a tough all-aluminium build and large screen that help make the new, slim line camera very nice to hold and to look at.

pocket-lint reviewed the Nikon Coolpix S200 and gave out”The S200 could be looked at as a Coolpix S500-lite, but that fails to recognise the excellent build and features that make the S200 an accomplished machine in its own right at a good price.”

The S50 is clearly aimed at photographers who are content to let the camera do virtually all the work. There is the capability to set fixed ISO sensitivities and some camera inputs with regard to image quality, color, exposure, etc., but the major role of the S50 shooter is to compose and press the shutter button.

Digitalcamerareview reviewed the Nikon Coolpix S50 and gave out”The Nikon Coolpix S50 produces very good image and color fidelity in a stylish compact digital camera, and the big 3 inch monitor makes smaller monitors seem obsolete by comparison. While lacking manual controls, the S50 offers new photographers a user-friendly device whose overall performance can only enhance the confidence of novice shooters. At the same time, more experienced shooters who need a reliable, no-frills camera with some quality creative features won’t be barking up the wrong tree if they choose the S50.”

Nikon Coolpix P5000 Review by TrustedReviews
With the launch of the CoolPix P5000 in February this year, Nikon has returned to that market, and at first glance at least it looks like it means business. The P5000 is a rugged and practical-looking medium-sized 10-megapixel compact with a 3.5x zoom, f/2.7–5.3 lens

TrustedReviews Reviewed the Nikon Coolpix P5000 and gave out”The Nikon CoolPix P5000 isn’t the top-drawer semi-pro compact that many were hoping for, but it is a well-made and well-specified camera suitable for more experienced photographers. Its lack of performance and slow AF system are handicaps, but comfortable handling, a good range of options and features, and excellent photographic results more than compensate.”
